Grow at School
This year we have been very lucky to be involved in the Grow at School programme, which aims to teach children about growing your own food and gives them a better understanding of where our food comes from.
In September we received and built 4 raised beds, which are beside room 22 and can be seen from the yard. We also received a variety of seeds and vegetables to help us get planting. With the help of Ms Corr, our caretaker Willie and children from Senior Infants and 2nd class, we have planted potatoes, carrots, parsnips, turnips, beetroot, onions, garlic, radishes, tomatoes, lettuce and broad beans. Some of these are ready for harvest now, and others will be ready in the autumn time. Some children from 1st class helped us to dig up our potatoes this week and they are looking delicious!
